The Book That That Launched a Thousand Shark Attacks.

February saw the 50th anniversary of the release of Peter Benchleys book, Jaws. I didn’t read it till 1976 at the tender age of 15 and was underwhelmed. I remember giving it away straight after struggling through it. The movie adaptation however changed my life. In the 70’s and the 80’s the general consensus was that a book was going to be better than any of its movie adaptations. This movie was a major exception. It’s hard to think of all the movies Jaws came to inspire being great adaptations back to books though. I don’t know what that means.

Average Book Becomes Masterpiece Movie.
