They Don't make Actresses Like Anne Kimbell Anymore.

Monster From The Ocean Floor 1954 is Rodger Cormans first produced movie. Though the movie is primarily about a Giant Sea monster in the shape of a Cycloptic Octopus, there is a shark attack encounter of note. The whole encounter is under two minutes but what is striking is the human interaction in real life. Anne Kimbell, the protagonist knows how to convey the terror of an attack with what is one of the best reactions to a sea monster you will ever see, and it's done purely by facial expression behind a diving mask. I was more at ease with the live shark encounter in this movie than I was in Cormans later movie, She Gods Of Shark Reef 1958, as the actress is only making a halfhearted stabbing attempt at a passing one metre reef shark. Although murky by today's standards the underwater scenes are outstanding for their time. It's still enjoyable today and ripe for a restorative upgrade to digital.
